About This Role:

 

Forrester Research is seeking a Vice President, Research Director to lead a research team for our B2B marketing practice. This practice serves clients who are responsible for leading marketing and sales enablement functions for B2B firms. Forrester helps guide their marketing programs across digital and traditional channels to drive revenue growth.

 

The Vice President, Research Director will be responsible for defining a compelling and actionable research agenda that addresses the needs of our target clients as well as executing on that agenda by managing a team of Forrester analysts. The research agenda must provide a holistic set of answers to the questions that are most important to our B2B marketing clients. The Vice President, Research Director will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of the research documents that the team produces.

 

Our ideal candidate has experience leading both B2B marketing and research teams; will lead a research team of seven or more people; and must be able to effectively coach both seasoned and new analysts. This person must be passionate about helping individuals achieve their full potential as strategic thinkers, writers, and thought leaders.

 

Finally, this person will be responsible for acting as an advocate and champion for the B2B marketing practice within Forrester and with our clients. This entails partnering closely with our global sales organization during the pursuit of new business opportunities as well as the enrichment of existing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Engage as a thought partner with the analyst team to refine and expand the existing research agenda.
  • Edit syndicated research reports and ensure the quality of our intellectual property.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to members of the research team in support of their professional development goals.
  • Partner with account teams to identify and pursue business opportunities.
  • Meet the team performance goals for smooth content production, consulting revenues, and client support.
  • Participate in Forrester-sponsored and other events to drive awareness of the B2B marketing practice.
  • Contribute to the growth of Forrester’s Leadership Boards B2B Marketing Councils by partnering with Forrester’s advisors in that group and ensuring that the research team provides quality deliverables to Council members.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience as a consultant, practitioner, or research analyst in the B2B marketing arena.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about experience design, governance, understanding customer needs, branding, and marketing as well as the impact of technology on experiences; solid business instincts as well as a practical understanding of what makes companies tick and how executives operate; and a creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.
  • At least five years of experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing issues and challenges.
  • A strong record of academic achievement.
  • Superior analytical, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • The ability to travel 25% of the time or more.
