    About This Role:


    The Senior Analyst conducts innovative research delivers advice through written reports, consulting, client inquiries, and speeches. As part of Forrester Research team writing to the Application Development & Delivery role, this senior analyst serves professionals who are responsible for the success of their firms’ technology strategies related to advanced analytics platforms, machine learning and predictive analytics tools and automation solutions.


    The successful candidate writes to, presents to, and advises Application Development & Delivery Professionals about Forrester’s advanced analytics and automation research. Candidates need a strong understanding of the sourcing, pricing, and technology issues facing these executives today and an appetite for conducting and writing research to stay abreast of those issues.


    • Help define the future of the business applications by painting an accurate, forward-looking view and predicting the effect of new technologies, vendors, services, and pricing and sourcing models on an organization’s application landscape based on primary research.
    • Understand and articulate the impact of automation, AI, machine learning and other emerging techniques on the application development and maintenance practices.
    • Perform comparison studies, benchmarking and evaluation of various technology providers in the business applications domain.
    • Develop a deep understanding of what Forrester clients require to be successful as Application Development & Delivery Professionals.
    • Conduct research into key aspects of the responsibilities of Application Development & Delivery Professionals, including the sourcing and vendor management strategies, trends, and best practices related to business applications.
    • Write a number of research documents per year that convey new ideas in a rich business context. These reports typically: 1) introduce new thinking about successful strategies and best and next practices; 2) present strategic maturity assessments and improvement road maps; 3) compare new technologies or services and their potential to help clients solve their business challenges (e.g., via a Forrester Wave™ evaluation); or 4) identify best practices that affect end user value.
    • Lead consulting engagements with clients to apply Forrester’s research in the context of their specific business environments and help solve their problems through inquiry, advisory, and project consulting.
    • Present and speak at Forrester-sponsored and industry-related events, and deliver client webinars.
    • Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker; build relationships with senior Application Development & Delivery Professionals, as well as with the technology vendors that serve them and the journalists who cover the sector; and participate in vendor briefings and field press inquiries as necessary.
    • Embrace social tools and build a market presence via social media


    • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in an application development and maintenance role on the client, vendor or consulting side.
    • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the enterprise systems such as systems of engagement, systems of insights, systems of record and their inter-relationships in a typical enterprise.
    • A strong record of academic achievement: B.A./B.Sc./B.Tech. minimum; MBA or M.S. preferred.
    • Deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of technology on the business landscape; solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick; and a creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.
    • Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as memorable presentation skills. Senior Analyst/Analysts are expected to take complex, disparate ideas and distill them into simple, provocative concepts and be willing to take a stand on vendors and outcomes.
    • The ability to travel 30% to 50% of the time.
