Forrester is an idea company, where smart, motivated, curious people bring a diversity of opinions and the courage of their convictions to collaborate on ideas that change the course of business. Most of all, bring a point of view; here, every voice has value. At Forrester, you’ll work with innovative clients at emerging and established brands; these are the business and technology leaders we inspire and who inspire us. The Forrester experience is built on a singular, powerful purpose: to challenge thinking and lead change.

    About This Role

You are a leader who inspires leaders. Your deep expertise in leadership effectiveness programs combined with your superior executive coaching skills and strong business acumen position you to make a huge impact on our Forrester clients and our Leadership Boards product.

Forrester’s Leadership Boards is an exclusive peer networking product (experience) offered to CMOs, CIOs, and senior leaders in marketing and technology roles. The Forrester Leadership Boards experience is for busy marketing and technology executives who are leading change in their organizations to drive growth. They want to be challenged by experts, learn from peers outside their own company, and are too busy to self-serve. Each member has a dedicated advisor who curates the Forrester research and connects them with peers and expert analysts to solve their biggest challenges.

This newly created Leadership Effectiveness Program Director position will design and deliver high-impact leadership effectiveness programs to members of our Leadership Board peer groups. He or she will report directly to the SVP of Leadership Boards and collaborate closely with managers and advisors on our 70-person global team.

We are seeking an experienced learning and development pro with strong business acumen, program design, expert facilitation, and coaching skills. The ideal candidate speaks business first (HR second), builds trust and rapport with C-suite leaders, listens actively, and challenges conventional thinking in a supportive and engaging manner.

He or she will collaborate with the Leadership Boards team to bring quarterly leadership programming  to our members. This dynamic and engaging leader will be the program director  and one-on-one coaching and follow-up with members upon request from their dedicated advisor. The successful candidate must have recent experience and certification with leadership and behavioral assessment tools, such as Clifton Disc, Myers-Briggs, Thomas Kilmann Negotiation, and Situational Leadership.

The portfolio of leadership programs you will create and deliver will augment our rich marketing and technology thought leadership (research and frameworks). The programs will be delivered both virtually and in person at our large-group, face-to-face member meetings. The successful candidate must be able to engage confidently with marketing and technology executives and be willing to take a hands-on approach to delivering high-quality interactive sessions in a fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze VOC data to understand members’ needs and priorities for leading change.
    • Design a curriculum of effective leadership programs aligned to members' top priorities.

    • Facilitate live, in-person leadership effectiveness workshops at member events.
    • Implement an annual Leadership Effectiveness Assessment Survey and compile results by peer group.
    • Offer one-on-one coaching sessions with members to debrief on their personal assessment results in conjunction with a dedicated advisor.
    • Transfer skills and knowledge of tools to a dedicated advisor team in a coach-the-coach model.
    • Build a set of leadership effectiveness tools and templates aligned to the needs of CMOs and CIOs during their first 100 days in a new job.
    • Measure and report on program participation and effectiveness.
    • Work with the advisor team to market the leadership effectiveness curriculum and get the right audience to the right programs.
    • Leverage Forrester’s existing intellectual property.
    • Hire and coach one contract instructional designer to develop program materials and digital tools.
    • Be able to travel 25% of the time (10 to 14 trips per year; two to four days each; US and Europe).

    Qualifications

    • Fifteen-plus years of learning, leadership development, and senior-level coaching expertise.
    • S./B.A. required; related work experience required; MBA a plus.
    • A deep understanding of leadership development frameworks and models (e.g., leading change, culture building, hiring and retention, coaching and performance management, executive communication and storytelling).
    • Excellent cross-functional collaborator who excels at both strategy and execution.
    • Strong project and program management skills.
    • Highly driven self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment.
    • Creative mind that thrives on ways to inspire and engage leaders and colleagues.
    • Must be able to work collaboratively across product, marketing, sales, executives, and customers.
    • Exceptional communication cross-functionally and at all levels, including internal and external executives.
    • High-energy, “own it” personality and ability to drive process improvement and thrive in a high-growth environment.
