    About This Role:

    We are currently looking for a Manager, Strategy and Corporate Development who will work closely with senior leaders to evaluate internal and external investment opportunities to drive Forrester’s profitable growth, in alignment with our strategic priorities. As such, you will oversee mergers and acquisitions (M&A) from end to end, evaluate and track major internal initiatives, support the annual strategic planning process, and participate in ad hoc tactical and strategic projects.


    In this role, you have four key areas of responsibility that are all related and support the effort to organize, evaluate, and prioritize how Forrester invests in the future, ensuring that all major investments align with a single strategy and vision and are appropriately coordinated and synergistic.


    1) Strategy

    • Participate in and lead subsets of the annual strategic planning process.
    • Frame the issues that should be considered based on insights gained from evaluating the impact of existing initiatives, overall business performance trends, and developments in the competitive landscape.
    • Develop a database of appropriate benchmarks that can be used to improve the understanding of our own business and help to set optimization targets as we evolve Forrester’s operational structure.
    • Prepare pertinent analysis and presentation materials to drive conversation and support decisions around key topics that would lead to growth opportunities, market development, risk mitigation, innovation/transformation, and profitability improvement.
    • Design and implement models that assist long-term planning by assessing the strategic and financial fit and potential risk/reward of strategic initiatives (including acquisitions).
    • Evolve the process and be a key facilitator in driving consensus across the executive team, improving our capability to move quickly, decisively, and effectively.

    2) Corporate development

    • Curate the catalog of inbound acquisition opportunities, and evaluate the fit of targets by leading the deal review process.
    • Proactively identify acquisition opportunities through appropriate outbound efforts, and assess viability in conjunction with the deal review process.
    • Lead and/or participate in all stages of M&A, from initial approach to due diligence to close and integration. This includes business case development, project management of the deal review and deal management processes, and, in general, doing what’s necessary to keep the process moving.
    • Standardize and document processes and key methodologies. Train financial staff on valuation methodology and other M&A tasks to improve bench strength and broaden the capacity of the organization in this area.

    3) Internal investment opportunities

    • Catalog proposals for major internal investments across the business, and drive process to evaluate business cases, prioritize and fund investments, and measure and report out on results.
    • Improve Forrester’s capability to quickly aggregate, evaluate, and execute the best ideas that drive growth on the top and bottom line.

    4) Ad hoc analysis

    • Perform analyses proactively or upon request, at strategic or tactical levels, and summarize and present the findings, including solutions that can move the needle on performance.


    • Accounting, finance, or equivalent undergraduate business degree required, with eight years of progressive experience.
    • MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred, with demonstrated mastery of concepts and techniques used for valuation of businesses and projects, including expert-level modeling in Excel.
    • Intimate knowledge of the M&A process from end to end.
    • The ability to navigate ambiguous situations, see through complex issues, and assimilate and structure content into concise, high-impact presentations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, rally, and facilitate group work and discussions toward completion of goals, including rolling up your sleeves to do what’s necessary to advance a project or help the team out.
    • A highly accountable, resourceful, polished professional, with high energy and a strong work ethic.
    • Proven project management skills, with an aptitude for prioritizing activities and managing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously under tight deadlines.
