  • Overview

Fuel your intellectual curiosity and professional growth. Forrester is an idea company, where smart, motivated, curious people bring a diversity of opinions and the courage of their convictions to collaborate on ideas that change the course of business. Most of all, bring a point of view; here, every voice has value. At Forrester, you’ll work with innovative clients at emerging and established brands; these are the business and technology leaders we inspire and who inspire us. The Forrester experience is built on a singular, powerful purpose: to challenge thinking and lead change.

    About This Role:

As a User Experience (UX) Researcher on Forrester’s evaluative research team, you will lead our business-to-consumer (B2C) digital experience evaluative research projects. In this role, you will oversee several research initiatives per year, managing them from inception to completion. You will play a key role in assessing digital experiences, overseeing the evaluation process, and influencing the reports that we generate for Forrester clients.

In Forrester’s digital experience evaluative research, we follow a transparent methodology to compare the digital experiences that market-leading companies provide to consumers. Our clients use our evaluations to understand best practices, benchmark their own digital experience capabilities, and inform their strategic planning. Our methodology is a multiweek process that involves defining the scope of the evaluation; understanding the right companies for inclusion; evaluating their digital channels (websites, apps, or other); working with the companies to gather information (as necessary); scoring the companies on a predefined set of criteria; and preparing a final document to share with clients. We have conducted these evaluations in the retail, banking, insurance, automobile, and investing industries, among others.

As a UX Researcher, you will work closely with Forrester analysts to follow the evaluation methodology and create an accurate and fair view of the results. You will also interact with other Forrester teams — such as publishing, sales, marketing, and production — to create and share a consistent and high-value research product.

    • Work with analysts and research directors to define and refine the scope of the evaluations, inclusion criteria, and scoring criteria.
    • Contribute to report plans, premise documents, timelines, and scorecard templates.
    • Lead kickoff calls with analysts, research directors, and participating companies.
    • Conduct the evaluation by reviewing the digital channels of leading brands; completing a scorecard for each brand, consisting of 30 to 60 evaluation criteria. A UX analyst will evaluate UX using a predefined set of criteria; other analysts on the project team will assess digital functionality with your support.
    • Use remote unmoderated testing tools (e.g., UserTesting, UserZoom).
    • Facilitate in-person and remote moderated testing (both formative testing as well as benchmarking).
    • Deliver recommendations on "best" interface and interaction design patterns.
    • Provide timely and value-added project management support for designated research projects.
    • Manage important deadlines for reports, scorecard reviews, graphics, and publishing requirements.
    • Work to improve the methodology, operations, and design for executing the evaluation process.

    • A UX specialist with two to three years of experience.
    • Fluency in user-centered design best practices for desktop and mobile interfaces.
    • Experience conducting heuristic/expert reviews of products and creating presentations to report on findings. Candidates will need to provide samples of deliverables from heuristic evaluations or usability tests they’ve conducted.
    • A passion for research with a willingness to be pragmatic and creative about how it's done.
    • The ability to supervise (though not necessarily directly manage) Forrester partners and other team contributors.
    • The ability to independently conduct expert reviews and run usability testing.
    • Preferably some knowledge of globally recognized accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and experience of evaluating designs against these (e.g., color contrast).
