    About This Role:

    The Principal Financial Analyst is a key partner to business unit leaders and provides them with forward-looking decision support by conducting and effectively presenting insightful planning and analysis. The Principal Financial Analyst leads or contributes meaningfully to the following critical processes for his or her assigned business units:

    • Annual operating budget.
    • Monthly rolling forecast.
    • Monthly accounting close and financial review.
    • Weekly resource planning.
    • Special projects: business cases, process optimization, M&A support, etc.
    • Elevating financial acumen of business partners.

    Responsibilities

    • Engage as a business partner with the leaders of the business units assigned to you, and maintain a productive relationship that improves understanding of the key business drivers and facilitates fluid and effective decision making.
    • Project-manage the annual planning process for assigned business units.
    • Assist the monthly and quarterly accounting close by reviewing and reconciling financial results, including bookings, revenue, and expenses as appropriate.
    • Update the monthly rolling forecast in collaboration with business unit leaders.
    • As part of the monthly financial review process, document and present to business unit and finance leadership: 1) variance analysis and commentary for actual results compared to plan and to prior year and 2) an updated rolling forecast summary that includes risks, opportunities, and actionable course-correction recommendations.
    • Participate in the weekly resource planning process, ensuring optimization of available talent and nonpeople resources.
    • Maintain assigned databases in the FP&A planning system related to monthly close and management reporting.
    • Evolve financial forecasting and planning models to ensure forecast accuracy and quality are always improving.
    • Contribute to special projects as needed, such as investor relations analytical support, strategic planning, process optimization, business case preparation, external benchmarking, and M&A support.
    • Help to improve the financial acumen of your peers, your business partners, and their teams.

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in business, with eight to 10 years of related business experience; an MBA or post-graduate degree is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated mastery of fundamental techniques in corporate financial analysis as well as a firm grasp on methods employed to evaluate financial performance of public companies.
    • A polished professional with outstanding presentation skills who pursues knowledge of the business and industry to produce insightful analysis to support the decision-making process.
    • A strategic thinker with a sense of urgency, a commitment to quality, and the ability to independently prioritize the most impactful tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • A team player who has demonstrated the ability to partner with the C-level, is comfortable coaching and being coached, and will elevate the team.
    • Expert knowledge of Excel (sophisticated modeling, manipulating and analyzing large data sets, etc.).
    • A solid understanding of database structure (CRM, data warehouse, ERP, etc.) and experience with a variety of financial systems.
    • Experience with public midsize service/consulting organizations is a plus.
