About This Role:

Analysts conduct innovative research and deliver advice through written reports, consulting, client inquiries, and speeches. Areas of research include AIOps; digital experience monitoring (DEM); application performance monitoring/management (APM) and infrastructure monitoring; logging, event alert, and incident management; cloud monitoring and observability (including OpenTelemetry); infrastructure management and CMDB; and optional experience in mainframe modernization and integration.  They serve professionals who are responsible for the success of their firm’s operations strategy with the goal of achieving modern, resilient operations that delivers strong employee and customer experiences.


The successful candidate for the Senior Analyst position will research concepts, frameworks, and best practices on how to monitor and optimize existing operations programs and digital experiences. This individual will also: 1) bring knowledge of core operational practices with a desire to research modern approaches to availability that can serve innovative enterprises at scale and revitalize the reputation and use of IT services and 2) evaluate the business implications, technology developments, collaboration, and market dynamics and the impact all of these have on the people involved. Findings from this research will be delivered in crisp, well-written research reports, webinars, workbooks, and client presentations. In addition to writing reports and providing listed research deliverables, the Senior Analyst will also develop innovative thinking on operations that challenges thinking and leads change.


Candidates must have a strong understanding of the business and technology issues facing tech leaders and teams today and an appetite for conducting and writing research to stay abreast of the issues.


Job Description:

  • Develop a deep understanding of what Forrester clients require to be successful as operations professionals, with a focus on how they deliver an optimum customer and employee experience with modern, resilient monitoring and operations.
  • Conduct primary research on how enterprises plan to accelerate their modern, resilient customer-centric monitoring strategy and keep it evolving in pace with the constantly changing technology markets.
  • Collaborate with experts on different focus areas from across Forrester roles and geographic teams to develop a complete context for these trends, both providing input to the research reports and incorporating expertise to provide a “big picture” and use case/vertical-specific coverage for monitoring and operations research.
  • Collaboratively develop cohesive bodies of research that are focused on helping clients succeed with specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Write/create approximately eight reports and workbooks per year and use social media to develop visibility for your research and for Forrester and to contribute to Forrester client communities.
  • Consult with clients to apply Forrester’s research in the context of their specific business environment and help solve their problems through inquiry and advisory.
  • Present at Forrester-sponsored and industry-related events and deliver client webinars, workshops, and speeches.
  • Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker; build relationships with senior operations professionals and vendor executives, CTOs, and CIOs, as well as with the journalists who cover the sector; and participate in vendor briefings and field press inquiries as necessary.


Job Requirements:

  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in positions responsible for architecting and defining technology management and/or business service management strategy or equivalent relevant experience with a vendor or consulting firm.
  • A deep understanding of the competitive marketplace.
  • A deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of technology on the business landscape.
  • Solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick and how infrastructure and operations professionals operate.
  • A creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.
  • Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as memorable presentation skills. Analysts are expected to take complex, disparate ideas; distill them into simple, provocative concepts; and be willing to take a stand on vendors and outcomes.
  • The ability to travel more than 25% of the time.
