About This Role:

The Researcher will be part of Forrester’s global financial services research team, which conducts research on the impact of digital and emerging technologies on customer behaviors and expectations and firms’ business and operating models. This individual will work with a team of analysts who primarily serve clients at retail financial services firms such as banks, wealth management firms, and insurance companies.


The Researcher will 1) research and write reports on the current best practices and future developments in digital banking/investment/insurance experiences; 2) help develop research on key research themes such as financial well-being, autonomous finance, sustainability, and zero back office; 3) conduct primary and secondary research to assist analysts with their research; 4) drive the development of alternative and short-form content; 5) assist with client advisory and consulting deliverables; and provide support for the team’s events.


The candidate should be self-motivated, intellectually curious, and analytical; can perform high-quality survey data analysis; can create clear and concise written analyses; can produce clear and accurate presentations; and can prioritize the needs of the team. Candidates will need a strong interest in and understanding of the business and technology issues facing financial services firms today and in fintech/insurtech firms changing the competitive landscape of finance.


Job Description:

  • Assist analysts in conducting research, analyzing findings, and producing reports and presentations.
  • Design and conduct primary research, which includes planning and conducting telephone interviews, fielding online surveys, and conducting systematic assessments of companies’ websites and apps.
  • Conduct secondary research using industry sources, including systematic assessments of companies’ digital strategies and analysis of Forrester Technographics® and third-party data.
  • Write high-quality research that conveys new ideas to help Forrester clients understand customer and digital technology trends, challenge their own thinking, take better decisions, solve their business problems, develop their strategies, and lead change in their organizations.
  • Convey research findings through written reports, data visualizations, videos, and infographics.
  • Support the building of analytical and maturity models as well as self-assessment tools.
  • Provide help in building presentations for Forrester events, consulting, conferences, webinars, etc.
  • Take part in vendor briefings, client inquiries, webinars, and industry events to help the team stay on top of industry trends and best practices. As needed, help the research team work with Forrester’s sales, marketing, and editorial teams.


Job Requirements:

  • A strong track record of academic achievement; a BA/BS degree at a minimum.
  • A track record of writing clear and concise reports and analysis.
  • Two to three years’ work experience in a marketing, digital business strategy, market research, or consulting role.
  • Experience in successfully working independently in a team under tight deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
  • Experience in working with primary and secondary data.
  • Experience in organizing and analyzing raw survey data.
  • A strong interest in financial services research.
  • An understanding of digital financial services trends, processes, technologies, and tactics.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity about consumer behavior, business and technology, and particularly the impact of technology on financial services and how firms serve customers across touchpoints.
