Job Description

Our job is to be bold at work.

It starts with an insatiable curiosity about clients, colleagues, and the future. At Forrester, we believe curiosity powers progress. Forresterites bring a diversity of opinions and the courage of their convictions to collaborate on the ideas and initiatives that change the course of business. As a trusted advisor to the most influential companies in the world, we live at the nexus of what’s next.

About This Role:

Forrester’s Senior Analyst for the security and risk (S&R) research team conducts innovative research and delivers advice through written reports, advisories, client inquiries, webinars, and event speeches, primarily serving S&R professionals as well as CIOs, CTOs, software architects, product designers, and product managers. This individual works with a team of analysts in researching client initiatives concerning identity and access management (IAM).

This role helps clients develop security strategies and informed decisions against risk by transforming their current IAM security practices and improve organizational efficiencies. Basic coverage includes best practices for workforce identity management/access governance, privileged identity management, identity as a service (IDaaS), multifactor authentication (MFA), single sign-on, and properly securing directory infrastructure.

Job Description:

As part of a small high-performing, collaborative team, the Senior Analyst:

  • Develops a thorough understanding of what Forrester clients need to succeed as S&R leaders.
  • Conducts research into main aspects of IAM.
  • Helps define the future of workforce IAM, including how the security team can work with key business functions to support organizational success.
  • Writes research reports that convey new ideas relating to IAM and security ideas in a rich business context. These reports typically: 1) introduce new perspectives regarding successful business and technology strategies; 2) present organizational and technology implementation plans; 3) compare new technologies or services (e.g., via Forrester Wave™); or 4) predict emerging business opportunities.
  • Consults with clients to apply Forrester’s research within a business-environment-specific context and resolves their problems through inquiries, guidance sessions, and advisories.
  • Presents at Forrester-sponsored industry events and deliver client webinars.
  • Establishes an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker and builds relationships with primary S&R pros, the technology vendors serving them, and journalists covering the sector.
  • Participates in vendor briefings and field press inquiries.

Job Requirements:

  • A strong academic record; a BA or BS degree or an equivalent experience.
  • A formulated S&R strategy; success in providing consultative advice to senior security professionals.
  • A minimum of six years of experience with IAM, including MFA, IDaaS, privileged identity management, access governance, single sign-on, and directory infrastructure.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about technology’s impact on the business landscape; a solid business instinct; a practical understanding of how S&R pros operate; a creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes; and fascination with the future.
  • Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills as well as memorable presentation skills; the ability to take complex, disparate ideas and distill them into simple, bold concepts and the willingness to take a stand on vendors and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of how particular issues vary by industry (government, healthcare, and financial services) is a plus.
  • An appetite for conducting and writing research; curiosity about new, emerging trends; and the confidence to guide executives in adopting best practices.
  • The ability to travel 15% - 30%of the time.
